ZENIT MAKE EPIC COMEBACK, GRAB FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

Two early goals from Dmitry Poloz for Rostov (8′,14′), shocked Zenit and Petrovsky stadium, in the third Russian League matchday.

Dzyuba missing yet another game, Zenit were trying to produce at least a goal before half time but couldn’t create any danger for Dzhanaev. Rostov sat on a comfortable two-goal lead but saw their captain Gatcan being booked twice in 15′ minutes, leaving last season’s “Russian Leicester” down to ten men with another 45′ remaining.

Mircea Lucescu saw his players taking full advantage of the situation, pushing Rostov further into their box and producing a full comeback; New Brazilian signing Giuliano scored his first goal after his arrival and the first for Zenit this season from the spot (50′). Ezzatollahi made things worse for his team, levelling things 2-2 with an own goal (72′) while Djordjevic concluded the epic three-goal run with a header (85′), giving the Blue-White-Sky Blues their first adventurous win of the season, before facing CSKA Moscow next week.
