ZENIT LEAVES CAPITAL WITH SECOND DRAW AND A LATE EQUALIZER

A weekend of derbies took place in the Russian league where CSKA faced Lokomotiv in the Moscow derby (1-1), while Zenit also travelled to the Russian capital to face Spartak, with a chance to climb up the table after CSKA’S loss of two points.

– Spartak with the massive support from their fans, starts stronger and with Lodygin’s help takes the early lead at the 6′ minute with Ze Luis’ long range lob, right after Garay loses a huge chance to freeze Otkrytyie arena (header went wide).

– Hosts are hammering Zenit’s defence but Lodygin, Lombaerts and Garay are holding on tight.

– Momentum changes hands! Hulk fires one of his special “brick” shots from a foul kick he earned seconds earlier, bringing things level 1-1.

– It is Zenit’s turn to push Spartak and look for a second goal, finds it with Dzuyba, but he is ruled offside with Zenit touching a full comeback.

– More of the same for the second half, with Popov’s brilliant lob putting Spartak back in the driver’s seat (70′)!

– Zenit now desperately looking for the equalizer and who else can get it than Artem Dzuyba, who scores against his previous club without celebrating, 2-2 (87′)!

– That is the final score in an amazing Russian clasico with Zenit, just like against CSKA, scoring a late equalizer, remaining on 3rd place behind Lokomotiv and CSKA Moscow.
