Rostov left two points in Amkar, heating things up in the Russian League hunt with CSKA moving first and Dynamo and Spartak following, while Zenit travelled to Samara facing Krylia in a chance to keep up with competitors.
Dzyuba stroke at the 19′ minute taking advantage Danny’s brilliant through pass and opened the score for Zenit who did not stop there. Six minutes later, Smolnikov run down the right side and was brought down inside Krylya’s box, earning a chance from the spot to double the lead for the visitors. Hulk successfully converted and a two-goal safe lead through half time was kept thanks to an outstanding save from Yuri Lodygin seconds before the whistle.
Krylya wanted to get back in the game, Zenit defended well with an exceptional Yuri Lodygin under the posts, and a couple of chances from either sides couldn’t change the final score which sees Zenit climbing up fourth, ten days before facing CSKA at home.
The league enters a small break first, as players join their international teams next week.
