Axel Witsel was chosen by the Belgian federation to join coach Marc Wilmots in the press conference of tomorrow’s game against Portugal in Leiria. The former Benfica player highlighted the qualities of the national team, referring in particular to the offensive sector.
“Portugal has one of the biggest teams in world football, with top players. The best player and most dangerous is Cristiano Ronaldo but the rest of the team is strong offensively, with players like Danny, Quaresma and Nani. I predict a good game in which we will do everything to win, “said the Belgian international.
Witsel also spoke of the motivation to represent the Belgian selection, in whatever the situation is and highlighted the special circumstances of this game, following last week’s bombings in Brussels.
“What happened in Belgium was very difficult but we are here to play and give strength and courage to all the Belgian people. We wanted to play this game at home but unfortunately it was not possible. The motivation to play for the selection is always the same, whether it is a World Cup match, a European or a friendly one”.
