THREE GOALS, THREE WINS FOR ST. PETERSBURG

First game for August and third total in the Russian League for Villas Boas men, with Terek Grozny visiting Petrovsky on a sunny Saturday evening, aiming for a good away result.

● Zenit take full control of the game with two quick goals. Terek’s defenders prone to mistakes, conceive from Smolnikov and Shatov.

● The Brazilian stole the ball almost halfway from Godzur’s posts and passed to Smolnikov who opens the score for St. Petersburg at the 7′ minute.

● Three minutes later Hulk steals again and Shatov shoots from within the box to double Zenit’s goals while seconds earlier a goal from visitors is called offside.

● Goals, chances, and great tempo from both clubs after 30 minutes.

● Witsel gets back in the game after an accidental hit in the face, Yusupov misses a good chance to finish the game and referee calls it half-time, Zenit leads 2-0.

● Nothing changes in the second half with Terek’s defence making huge mistakes but Hulk misses the tet-a-tet with Godzur and fails to deliver the third goal for Zenit.

● First visit for Grozny during the second half and Lodygin keeps the two-goal safety lead.

● Strong long range shot from Axel, Godzur says no!

● 75′ Witsel comes out of a hard fought match and Danny is introduced into the game.

● Second consecutive game where the Portuguese comes from the bench to put the cherry on top. Brilliant attack from Zenit, Hulk to Shatov to Danny and 3-0 for St. Petersburg.

● Lodygin refuses to conceive and Zenit celebrate their third victory with style. FC Ufa away next in one week.
