Marco Reus stars as breathtaking Borussia Dortmund put seven past Nuremberg

Marco Reus scored twice and chimed in with an assist as Borussia Dortmund moved to within two points of Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich with a crushing 7-0 victory over Nuremberg.

In flying form with two goals in his last two games, Christian Pulisic showed his creative side with a sensational through ball for Jacob Bruun Larsen, whose classy dinked finish put Dortmund ahead inside nine minutes. Marco Reus should have made it two soon after, but the BVB captain was thwarted by a strong Bradlow save. Nuremberg showed signs of life as Yuya Kobo tested Roman Bürki and Virgil Misidjan shot into the side-netting, before Reus slammed in Dortmund’s second of the night with the aid of a deflection.

Nuremberg’s task didn’t get any easier after the restart as Reus, leading a blistering counter, turned provider for debutant Achraf Hakimi to send an unstoppable low drive into the bottom corner of Bredlow’s goal. Reus added a fourth from close range, tapping in from Bruun Larsen after Thomas Delaney’s long ball had taken out the entire Nuremberg defence. Bredlow pulled off a spectacular save to deny Pulisic a slice of the goal-scoring pie, but the Nuremberg stopper was powerless to prevent Manuel Akanji stealing in on the follow-up with Dortmund’s fifth. Substitute Jadon Sancho put BVB in seventh heaven with a late goal and assist for Julian Weigl.
