After the victory against Krasnodar, Axel Witsel shared his impressions from the second time in a row he’s scored a goal and spoke about the blow-out win.
• The match against «Krasnodar» was really important for us, the victory puts us 10 points ahead now. In the first half we could have scored more, but we weren’t lucky. In the second half we started to press more and scored three times. We’re really happy with this win.
— The last few matches you’ve been playing almost as a second forward. How do you feel in this role?
• The coach knows that I can move well around the box and that I can play in the ninth position. I was really free to play in an attacking position and when I play like that I can score and I’ve been able to show this lately. I scored twice in our last matches, but the victory is more important than anything else.
— Is it tough for you to play in those conditions? In Kazan it was -15, but today there was more snow.
• It was fine today, but in Kazan it was really pretty cold. But we don’t have a choice. We intentionally flew there the day before to get used to the cold. We can’t say «Let’s not play today». Yes it’s tough to play in those conditions, but this is the same for both teams.
— Are these two victories going to help you going into the match against «Monaco»?
• We are in a really good mood for sure. We wanted to get as many points as we could in these last few games. Now we are going to just have to see how CSKA plays. I hope that they’ll lose points.
— «Krasnodar» was on the attack today, but «Monaco» is likely going to be playing from the back. How tough is it going to be in this final match?
• It’s going to be tough, but we don’t have a choice. We can only win. They probably are going to be playing from the back and then rely on the counter-attack. But we’ll have to be patient, we’ll have 90 minutes to score.
