Axel Witsel recalled his time in Benfica in an interview with “A Bola”, ahead of Zenit’s Champions League game in St. Petersburg against his former club. Axel did not rule out the possibility of finishing his career with the eagle emblem on his chest.
“I never thought of leaving Benfica so quickly. If one day I can come back? Of course! When? I do not know, “said the Belgian midfielder.
At 25, Witsel considers it’s too early to estimate where the end of his career will find him.
“I do not think much of it. But, I would end up in Benfica. Or maybe Standard Liege, where I started my career”.
