First game of the season for the Russian Cup and Zenit travelled to Tver to face local -2nd division- team Volga with many changes (Witsel, Hulk, Garay, Shatov, Smolnikov, Lodygin were out).
Volga proved a tough nut to crack as Dzuyba and his teammates couldn’t find a way beating the opponent’s keeper in 90′ minutes and the game was lead to extra time.
New signing Denis Tkachuk came off the bench scoring a hat-trick, giving St. Petersburg a tougher-than-it-looks win 3-0 over Volga.
