GOLDEN ZENIT ENDS SEASON ON A HIGH

Celebrations have already begun earlier this week in St. Petersburg as Zenit, who played with a golden star-imprinted jersey, reached 90 years from their birth and the last home game against Lokomotiv, was the cherry on top of a great season for Witsel and co.

Villas Boas’ players where thinking of the crowning with little to show for during the first half leading into a poor 0-0.

Things heated up at the 55′ minute after Tarasov kicked Javi Garcia out of play, resulting into a red card for the Moscow’s player with the Spaniard and Danny also seeing a yellow card each.

A beneficial moment for Zenit as Rondon opened the score six minutes later giving the signal for the celebrations to start at Petrovsky stadium.

Danny missed to add his name on the score-sheet on what was his last game with Zenit, as his shot was deflected of a defender with the 1-0 being the final score.

Zenit and St. Petersburg celebrates their third title in five years and will directly compete in next year’s Champions League Group stage.
