Borussia Dortmund rout over Austria Vienna

USA teenager Gio Reyna kickstarted a high-scoring friendly win for Borussia Dortmund on Sunday, striking a brace in an 11-2 triumph over Austria Vienna.

It didn’t take long for Dortmund to hit their stride, with Reyna lashing in from 15 yards after his clever run beat the offside trap. The 17-year-old doubled his side’s advantage midway through the half, finishing smartly with his left foot after being teed up by Manuel Akanji. BVB continued to dominate but were pegged back when Christoph Mondschein escaped his marker in the box to head in a cross from the left. Undeterred, Lucien Favre’s side quickly restored their two-goal cushion when Raphael Guerreiro swept home from the left, while Immanuel Pherai scored his first senior goal to but the outcome of the game beyond doubt at the break.

Favre swapped all 11 players at the interval but there was no disruption to speak of, as Sancho soon added his name to the scoresheet with a cool finish from Emre Can’s pass. Aleksander Jukic pulled another goal back for the Austrians with a superb strike from the edge of the area, but Vienna tired in the closing stages and their resistance well and truly broke. Goals from Can, Marius Wolf, Thorgan Hazard, and a first BVB strike from Jude Bellingham – set up by Sancho – put Dortmund well clear, with Taylan Duman and Nico Schulz adding two more late on to round out a one-sided pre-season fixture.
