AXEL: “WE WILL TRY TO HOLD THE BALL AND PLAY OUR GAME”

Belgium coach Marc Wilmots, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and midfielder Axel Witsel spoke to the media at the Red Devils’ pre-game press conference, ahead of Tuesday’s Group B tie in Israel.

Wilmots described the hosts as “wounded” following their 3-0 home defeat against Wales on Saturday: “Israel are wounded now and a very dangerous opponent for us. We can’t be favourites to win in Israel, Wales play a different system to us with [Aaron] Ramsey and [Gareth] Bale making the damage.”

Belgium moved above Cyprus last time out with emphatic win in Brussels and Axel Witsel wants a similar performance in Jerusalem: “Our game plan against Cyprus was good – It has to be as productive again against Israel. We will try to hold the ball as much as possible and play our game.”

Thibaut Courtois added: “I’m sure I’ll be tested more tomorrow. Our goal is to win the group.”
