Axel: “The title should be ours. We will make that happen!”

The Blue-White-Sky Blues midfielder spoke about the victory over CSKA, the race for the championship and his wish to score for his daughter.

— Are you happy with the game? It was probably pretty tough but it looked good from the stands.
• Yeah I think that the fans should be happy with the game. There were a lot of emotions, it was tough. But we knew before the game that we had to win. We had to keep the gap, and we were able to do that so we are satisfied.

— Were you nervous at the end? Your opponent scored and were pressing pretty hard.
• Well you know that when you are leading by one at the last ten minutes of the match, you have to play from the back and at the same time the coach is asking you to push forward too. That’s what we were trying to do. If we were a bit luckier, we would have scored on the counter-attack, there was enough space.

— Yeah, you had some good chances. Tell us about what happened?
• I was already feeling pretty tired. The last few weeks have been crazy with all the travelling, playing away for the national team, other things happening in life too. So I’m just going to say that I am happy with my game. Sure, I didn’t score, but the win is more important.

— Your daughter was born this week. First of all, congratulations, second of all do you want to dedicate this win to her and to her mom?
• Yeah, I really wanted to score for them. But you know, it didn’t work out today, but maybe in the next game it will and then I’ll show that this goal was for them.

— 8 points with 9 match days until the finish — does that guarantee the championship?
• Not yet. We have to be careful. Of course 8 points is a good advantage and means that everything is in our hands with 9 matches left. The title should be ours, we’ve earned it, all of us have, our fans, coaches, the city. We are going to make this happen.
