ARSENAL THROWS ZENIT OUT OF RUSSIAN CUP

Zenit’s two-goal lead was not enough for St. Petersburg’s team who lost the qualifying win from their own hands as Arsenal Tula came back from a 2-0 to leave with a great victory from Petrovsky stadium.

Arshavin’s goal at the 20′ minute and Tula’s harmless attack indicated an easy evening for Villas Boas’ squad who doubled their goals when Hulk served and Rodic delivered at the 70′.

Tula kept on looking for a goal to get them back in the game and found it with Kaleshin eight minutes before the final whistle.
Rondon missed a huge chance to finish the game at the 89′ with Arsenal equalizing a minute later sending the game to extra time.

Zenit kept on pushing for a third goal but it was Tula that stroke again at the 103′ with Maloyan, concluding a total turnover for Alenichev’s team.

Rondon’s shot scratched Filimonov’s right post on what was the biggest and last chance to send the game to penalties with Tula advancing to the next stage of the Russian Cup.
